Christmas 2012

Christmas this year was so much fun!  We have decided Christmas is way more fun now that we have kids and they are starting to understand the whole Christmas thing a little better.  Chad woke up early that morning and could hardly contain his excitement.  Our kids didn't wake up until after 8:30am...which was a great Christmas surprise for me!  We actually had to go in and wake them up because we couldn't stand it any longer.  Chad videoed us coming down and I completely walked past my gifts and walked the kids to their Santa gifts and stocking.  It was so fun to see their eyes light up at the sight of their new toys.  Chad forced me to go over to my gifts and I was shocked to see a new Canon Rebel sitting there.  I've wanted a new camera for quite a while now so I was thrilled.  Carson got a big crane from Santa and Brooklyn got a fun purse to play with along with lots of other gifts.  Carson spent about half of the day playing with all the boxes and wrapping paper playing garbage truck.  Yes, he is still obsessed!  It was so cute to watch him!

Christmas day seemed to fly by!  We spent the morning playing with the kids and talking with Chad's family on the phone.  That night we went over to Jer and Randee's house for a Mexican feast.  It was delicious!  I am so grateful for the Christmas season and the chance to celebrate Christ's birth!  This Christmas was definitely one of my favorite and one that I will always cherish!

Christmas Outfits

Still playing catch up here.  Around Christmas time I attempted to snap a couple pictures of the kids in their Christmas outfits.  Usually Carson is the one who doesn't want his picture taken and Brooklyn loves it.  This time was completely the opposite.  Carson was all about me taking his picture and Brooklyn didn't want anything to do with it.  It was cracking me up to see her little scowl.  I love that you can totally see Carson fun personality in these pictures.  These two kids just melt my heart and I love them so much!  Not a day goes by that I don't thank my Father in Heaven for sending me these two.

Carson's 3rd Birthday

Still playing blog catch up.  Carson turned 3 years old back on November 16th.  It's still weird for me to think about the fact that he is 3 already.  He has really grown up the past little while and is so much fun to have around.  Carson is always full of energy and can be found running laps up and down our hallway or around in circles in our small family room.  He is still completely obsessed with garbage trucks and anything to do with them.  He has an eye for spotting garbage trucks whenever we are out driving.  He loves cereal!(must be a Mitchell boy)  Loves playing basketball and talks about the Jazz all the time, even though he hasn't been to a game yet.  One of his favorite shows is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which he pronounces "Mickey Mouse Pwubquouse," and I think it's too cute!  He is such a sweet boy and has turned into quite the little helper lately.  He has a big heart and is constantly coming up to me and giving me hugs.  I love my little Carson bug!  Happy Birthday!

Petterborg Christmas Party

In December we held our annual Petterborg family Christmas party.  I always look forward to this party to be able to see all my cousins, aunts & uncles.  We of course had delicious breakfast casseroles, muffins, and fruit.  So good!  Even though we had already eaten breakfast that morning with our friends, the Wards, I couldn't resist eating some breakfast casserole anyway.-It's too good to pass up!  The kids had fun running around in the gym and playing on the stage while the adults chatted.  We played Bingo later on and Carson thought that eating all the smarties (that were being used as Bingo markers) was a great idea.  I'm surprised he wasn't sick later for how many he ate.  Anyways, it was an awesome party and we had a great time!

November

I am super behind on updating our blog!  November and December tend to fly by around here with  birthdays, Thanksgiving, more birthdays, and Christmas.  So we'll start back in November to catch up.

Teri came out to Utah to visit for a few days and we had such a great time.  We really packed in a ton of fun Christmas stuff while she was here.

We spent one afternoon making gingerbread houses.  Which was so much fun!  Carson loved decorating his house and eating way too much candy.  Our houses almost fell apart a few times, but we were able to save them and they ended up lasting past Christmas.

One night we all headed down to Temple Square to see the lights.  I love going to see the lights and being there with my family.  This was the first year we took the kids and I was so happy it was on  a warm night.

We also went to the Festival of Trees.  I haven't been in several years and so I was so excited to go.  Carson loved seeing all the Christmas trees at first, but then got very tired...as you can see.  My nieces, Hailey and Lauren, performed ballroom dancing while we were there and it was so fun to be able to see them dance.  I was moved to tears several times as we learned about some of the stories behind the trees.  It's so special to see the amount of time and money people donate.  This will definitely be a yearly tradition for us.

Carson was in a total daze just wiping down the table and staring off into space.  Poor kid was exhausted.
