Valentine's Day and Other February Stuff

Valentine's Day around here is pretty low key.  This year I tried to make a little more effort to make it special for the kids.

Carson had a Valentine's party at preschool that I helped out with and here is his monster valentine box.

I can't help it...I just love watching my kids sleep!  I love going in at night to tuck them in one last time and looking at their sweet faces.  So blessed to have these two cuties!

I heart attacked the kids doors while they were sleeping.  They thought it was so fun to have hearts all over their doors.

The kids helped me make pink heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast that morning.

Chad surprised me and came home a little early from work that day.  He helped the kids make some yummy cookies for me.

I told the kids we were going to make pancakes and they both ran into the pantry and came out with stuff saying they were ready to make pancakes.  Hot cocoa mix and apple cider vinegar is what they chose.  Luckily, we didn't use those ingredients.  :)

We love to go to the library every week for story time.  I finally caught one of Carson reading a book to Brooklyn.  So sweet!
The relief society asked me to do a cooking demonstration on how to make chocolate cake mugs.  I made quite a few of these little mugs.

February

Our best friends, the Wards, who used to live across the street from us in NSL, moved out to Herriman.  We all pilled in our car one day and took a little trip down there to their new house.  Afterwards, we stopped at Ikea to wander around and have a little lunch.  Such a fun day!  Love this family!

The kids all thought it was so fun being in the back seat together.

We had a few random nice days in February and so we took advantage of those days and played at the park.  I think we all had a little cabin fever and were so happy to finally be able to be outside.

My kids are both obsessed with the movie "Frozen".  Lately they will sing songs from the movie at the top of their lungs at the store.  It's hard not to laugh.  They love it and frankly so do I.  This is Brooklyn all dressed up like a princess at my Mom's house dancing to "Let It Go."

We had some fun play dates with friends.  This is a picture of our friend Hailey with the kids pretending to have a sleepover.

Carson doesn't take naps very often any more, but when he does they usually are in his closet.  He likes to pretend he is camping when he sleeps in there.  So cute!

The kids are really into helping me cook lately.  Their favorite thing to make is pancakes in the morning.

On Mondays while Carson is at preschool, Brooklyn and I go visit my Grandma Petterborg.  She lives in an assisted living center just down the street from Carson's preschool.  Brooklyn loves to look at all the fish, turtles, and birds while we chat with Grandma.  We love our weekly visits with Grandma!

January

Here's the picture run down of our January.

Brooklyn got her second hair cut/first "real" cut.  Chad's cousin, Lauren, cut her hair at Cookie Cutters.  She was so good getting it done.  Now let's hope her hair grows!

The Gregory's had us down for breakfast.  We ate yummy crepes and chatted while the kiddos played.  It's always fun to see the Ellis' and Gregorys'!

Carson had his first preschool singing program.  It was so fun to see him perform all the songs he has been learning in school.

We switched to 1 o'clock church and it has been pretty rough.  It's right during nap time and the kids have a tough time.  Hopefully this year goes fast.  :)  But they sure do look cute all dressed up for church!

Brooklyn is so funny lately!  She is constantly changing her clothes.  This is how she came out after nap time one day.  Too funny!

The beginning of January we celebrated my 31st birthday.  Really, how can I be that old?!  Time flies!  Anyway, I got some really great gifts and a few new clothes.  Which is always fun!  Erica was sweet and came up to babysit for us so Chad and I could go on a date that night.  Unfortunately, right as we were about to walk out the door Carson threw up.  No good.  Erica was awesome and let us run to grab some food real quick and then we came home.  Luckily he was fine until later that night.  That was the beginning of a rough couple months of our kiddos being sick off and on with colds and the flu.  We are grateful to be done with that and out enjoying spring now!  :)

Gingerbread Houses

Better late than never posting this...right?  We have a tradition of making gingerbread houses with Grammy at Christmas.  My kids absolutely love it!  In fact, Carson asked about when we were going to make them for several months.  He's our little Christmas lover.  Anyway, we had a great time making them with everyone! Be prepared for a photo overload.  :)
