Zoo Day

This Saturday we went to the Omaha Zoo with our good friends. We left early that morning to try to beat the crowds of people that would be there for the college world series games (which is right next to the zoo). Unfortunately, it still took us an extra hour to go about 5 blocks. While we were stuck in traffic we had a great time people watching all the thousands of people tailgating . These people are pretty serious about their tailgating parties. They had couches and multiple grills with tons of food. Pretty impressive stuff! The other funny thing was that people that live in the surrounding neighborhoods sell their yard for parking or for different vendors to come in and sell their stuff. It was nuts! Anyway, back to the zoo... we had the perfect weather and no rain! So great! We saw tons of animals and even saw a random wedding going on at a pavilion right next to the zebras.-Seriously...who has their wedding at the zoo?! Must have been a zoo employee romance or something like that. haha We made some good memories at the zoo that day including Chad mowing me over with the stroller while we raced up the hill. I totally would have won if he hadn't taken me out. :)

Here's the cool train that we didn't ride cause it was a ripe off. Major bummer!
I think giraffes are so cool
These orangutans were hilarious trying to get people to feed them. They know exactly what to do.

Matt had a great time in the jungle!
Poor Carson was exhausted. I love this picture of Chad feeding him! So sweet!

Look at these two boys with all the baby gear.
Couldn't get Carson to look at us for one picture
Cute Matt and Traci. We love these guys!
My little lion
And my other little lion. haha What a goof!

Successes and Failures

Well turns out more than half of my garden is a bust this year. First to go was the cucumber plant. It looked like a bug had been munching on it and was killing it off. So I just pulled that one out and was happy with the rest of my garden. However, then days later my pepper plants start to have little holes in their leaves. Some bug has been eating my little garden! On top of the bug situation we have had storm after storm here with the rain coming down in bucket loads. My pepper plants didn't handle that so well. But I must say that so far my tomato plants are doing great! I'm feeling pretty successful with the two tomato plants since they seem to be loving the heat and the rain. Bring on the tomatoes!

No I didn't over water these...this is after a storm. Poor plants can't even stand up straight any more.

Stupid bugs!

My happy little tomato plants. Hope these guys keep up their good work!

Memorial Day Weekend & Swimming

As I mentioned in my previous post, my best friend Melissa came up to visit us for Memorial Day weekend. We went to the Winter Quarter's Temple and the Cheesecake Factory while she was here. It was such a blast!
Eating at the Cheesecake Factory. Yummo!

Touring the Winter Quarter's visitor center

And guess who can sit up all by him self? He is a little wobbly at times, but he is starting to get the hang of it. Such a big boy!
Also, this month on the 16th my little boy turned 7 months old. He's growing up so fast! These past 7 months have really flown by! I am enjoying this stage so much. He loves interacting and playing with people, and babbles and giggles like crazy.
Still snuggles with his crib bumpers. I think it's so stinkin' cute! I love the one arm over the side!

Since we have a pool at our complex I have taken Carson swimming a couple of times this summer. My cute friend Traci came swimming with us last time and we had a great little time! Even though it was overcast on the day we went it was so sticky and hot. Got to just love the humidity here!
I need to get some shades for Carson...it's a wee bit bright outside. Carson loves the water! He thinks that riding in his little turtle is pretty darn cool and spends most of his time trying to gnaw on the turtle's head. Yes I am so pasty white. It's gross!

My dear friend

For Memorial Day weekend my best friend Melissa came up from Colorado to visit us. She is such a great friend to make that long drive all by herself! We had a fabulous time while she was here. We went to the Winter Quarter's Temple in Omaha, drove around Omaha a bit, watched Seinfeld, had long chats, and laughed lots. We've been best friends for 12 years and I am so incredibly blessed to have this girl in my life. She's amazing and is the sweetest person you will ever meet! I'm pretty sure she knows me better than most anyone else I know. We have made countless memories together and just thinking about some of them makes me laugh until my sides hurt. So here's a look back over the years of us. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner so I am missing some of my favorite pictures of us, but luckily that will leave out most of our awkward stage pictures as well. These aren't in the correct order.

Summer before our senior year hanging out in the back of the "Tin Can." Overalls were in back then. :)

Girls trip to Park City for graduation. Laying out all day until we were burnt to a crisp.
Roommates together in Provo.-And we're still best friends after living together. We had a LOVED it! Dance parties like you wouldn't believe!

Road trip to St. John's Arizona where we drove a good 20 minutes in the wrong direction at one point! haha Such good memories!
Playing in Moab
I love this picture!
"Christmas morning" with the roommates. I never did quite make it though White Christmas.

Mini Garden

Growing up every year my Dad would plant this enormous garden that stretched the length of our entire yard. And every year I'd have to help weed and plant. I'll be honest..I hated weeding and mostly complained, but I did enjoy helping plant.-Now that was fun! My favorite part of the garden was usually the peas. I would be asked to go out and pick some peas and I would go sit in the garden and pick a few peas and then eat a few (or a lot). Mostly just eat. I love fresh peas! I'm pretty sure my family hardly ever got to taste any of the peas because I ate them all before they had their chance. I guess they will just have to take my word for it when I say that they are the best. Anywho, I never thought I would have a garden of my own someday...especially since right now we live in an apartment. However, a couple of months ago I got the urge to plant my own little porch garden. So for Mother's Day Chad bought me two big pots and some gardening supplies to begin my little mini-garden. Chad did a fabulous job in picking out some cute pots that would look nice on our balcony and I love them! Thanks Chadley!

Here are my wee little plants just two weeks ago when we planted them.
These tomato plants looked pretty pitiful to begin with.
There seemed to be tons of space in this big pot when we first planted them, but now it's getting a bit crowed. I might have to take out the cucumber plant before it takes over my green pepper plants.
But just look at these tomato babies grow now! They are doing awesome!
My favorite thing about my mini garden is that there are no weeds! So great! Hopefully my little plants continue to thrive so we can enjoy some yummy veggies this summer!
