Breakfast with Santa and other December stuff

Chad is always finding fun stuff to do with Carson. Today it was putting him in a box and pushing him around the house. Carson thought is was great fun and was all smiles.

Every year our apartment complex puts on a breakfast with Santa. This year we actually went since we have Carson and it was a lot of fun. Lots of our friends that live in our complex were there and it was fun to see all of Carson's little buddies see Santa too.
The Ellis's meeting Mrs. Claus.

Carson wasn't sure quite what to think of the whole Santa thing, but he didn't cry so I will call it a success.

Yes we still have our little tiny trees. This year I was going to buy a big tree that was a major deal on Black Friday, but I decided against it after I realized I have absolutely no place to store it. So here we are again with our baby trees. I'm hoping next year I can actually buy a nice big tree and have a spot to store it! :)

Papa comes to town

A couple weeks ago my dad came to visit us. Both him and my mom were suppose to come out, but a few days before they were to come my mom got pneumonia and was too sick to come. So my dad made the long boring drive out here by himself. We were sad that my mom couldn't come, but we were happy to have my dad here for a while. Since my dad hasn't been here since he helped move us out here over 2 years ago and was only here for a day really I thought I better take him to see a few things.

Of course one of the top things on our list to do was to go on a tour of the Husker Football Stadium. It was impressive to see how pretty much they treat their football players like movie stars or something. They have the finest equipment and locker rooms and a whole indoor football field to train on, etc, etc. It was pretty dang cool! My favorite part was at the end when they let you out onto the football field.

Carson wasn't sure what to think of the field.

Us, with our tour guide that's randomly in the picture, where the players run out onto the field.

Go Big Red!!

Papa and Carson playing on the field.

2nd Largest football stadium screen. Yep, only the best for the Huskers!

The stadium itself is amazing! It holds over 85,000 people! And believe me when you are at a game it's insanely loud!

Speaking of the Huskers, my Dad and I got to go to a Huskers football game against Kansas. This is actually the first time I've been to a game since we've lived here.-I know, it's pathetic right. Well we went to a night game with our friends Matt and Traci and had a blast. Even though it was freezing cold it was so much fun to be able to experience going to a home game here. I've been to lots of other college football games before, but I've never seen anything like this. Just so cool! Then I wound up standing next to a drunk girl and her three drunk friends. This girl was twice my size and fell on me more than once because she couldn't stand up for the life of her because she was so wasted. Then every few minutes she'd think I was her best friend and get right in my face and say "Go big red girlfriend!" and try to give me high-five. Needless to say it made things even more entertaining.
In this picture I have my coat pockets stuffed with things to keep me warm like gloves, a hat, more gloves, and many other things. So that's why my coat is bulging out everywhere.

Me and Traci after the game trying not to freeze to death.
The game was definitely the highlight of my dad's visit here, but we did a few other fun things. One day we went to Omaha and hung out at the Old Market where we walked among the bricked streets in and out of cute little shops and had lunch. The rest of the time we spent just relaxing and hanging out. Carson LOVED having his Papa around. He thought it was pretty great to get to hang out and play with him all day. I'm sure he wonders where he went when he left. So thanks Dad for coming out and visiting! We loved having you here and miss you already! Love you!

Of course I have to add a few more pictures of my little man. He's become quite the busy little tyke.
Carson browsing the Hyvee add for sales.

Blurry picture, but a cute smile anyway. Carson loves standing next to anything, especially his little car parking garage thing.

He also loves getting into my pots and pans cupboard. I pick up and put these away at least 10 times a day. I'm sure it's more, but I usually loose count.

One Year Old

I can't believe that my baby boy is one already! Where did the time go?! One year ago today I was headed to the hospital ready to have my baby. After going into pre-term labor exactly a week earlier and being in the hospital for a number of days I felt ready to have my baby. I remember holding Carson for the first time and realizing that my life would never be the same again. I remember feeling filled with joy as I held him knowing that he had just come from the presence of our Heavenly Father. Since that day Carson has continued to bring so much joy and happiness into our home.

Today my poor little birthday boy is sick. I took him to the doctor yesterday after being up all night with a high fever and he said he has a bad cold and sore throat. Just by looking at him you can tell he doesn't feel good. He's wanted to be held by me pretty much all day and just wants to be snuggled with and rocked to sleep.-Which is totally uncharacteristic of him. Normally he isn't snuggly at all and is too busy and wiggly to be rocked. So although I am horribly sleep deprived from being up the past two nights with him I am enjoying every moment snuggling with him because I know once he starts feeling better that my little wiggly boy will be back to himself and back to no snuggling.

Here are some things about the birthday boy:

-He weighs in at a whopping 19 pounds even. Just tall and skinny like his Dad.
-Has 5 teeth and one on the way.
-Loves to read books.
-Loves when I sing Primary songs to him at night.
-Loves playing with his friends and trying to keep up with the big kids.
-Loves other kids. He will laugh and smile at any little kid wherever we are.
-Has figured out how to crawl up stairs. He saw my friends little girl do it once and decided he could do it too.
-His favorite foods are pancakes, pizza, cheese, yogurt, muffins, eggs, burritos, cherrios. He can eat 3 whole wheat pancakes by himself and one whole piece of pizza.
-Cruises around furniture and walks with help.
-His favorite thing to do is to get into the pots and pans cupboard and pull everything out.
-Loves playing hide-and-seek.
-Still drools non-stop and has to wear a bib full time unless we want his shirt to be soaked within 5 minutes.
-Says mama, dadda, and babbles like crazy. So cute!
-Loves to giggle.
-Can always bring a smile to my face and make me laugh.

So happy birthday to my Carson bug! Love you!

Halloween fun

This year we had so many fun Halloween celebrations to attend. It seems like we just ran from one party to the next. This post is all out of order, but it'll have to do for now. :)

Saturday night Chad and I had a little date night and made these little Halloween cupcakes. It was going great until I knocked the sprinkles over. I am still finding little sprinkles all over my kitchen.

Thursday morning Carson and I went to playgroup and they had a little Halloween party for the kiddos. Carson was a little young to understand most of the activities, but it was so much fun to see all the kids dressed up and be there anyway.
Carson spent his time at the party doing a few different things. Fighting over this fun guitar with his buddy Akoy.-Who by the way was the cutest hamburger ever!
Eating his fruit loop necklace...yes this was a nasty mess.
And eating the fish from the fishing pond station. I think he had a great time at the party overall. :)

Thursday night our friends hosted a Halloween party at their house. For this party Carson was dressed as a scarecrow. This kid will NOT hold still for a picture. All the pictures I have of him are of him wiggling away. Little stinker.
Carson chugging his bottle and playing at the party.
Carson and his girlfriend Riley playing letters together. So cute!

The Johnson family

Jace and Avery. We missed you Dayna!

The Ellis family
The Greggory family. Thanks to them for hosting such a fun Halloween party with great food and friends!

The Burgin clan. Chad put together his own costume without me knowing about it until he showed up.

Friday afternoon we went to the law school do go trick or treating. Lots of the students brought their families and went around from office to office. Saturday night we also went to our ward trunk or treat and Carson and I had a great time. He filled his entire bucket with candy that I'm sure I'm going to have to hid it from myself so I don't eat it all! Hope you all had a great Halloween!

Martin's Hillside Orchard

Last Friday a few of us convinced our hubby's to leave school a little early and come join us for a little trip to go pumpkin picking. We all headed up to Ceresco, which is little town just 15 minutes north of Lincoln. We had a perfect day to go pumpkin picking! The weather was great! We had such a fun time there! They had a corn maze, apple orchard, butterfly garden, John Deere bikes, apple treats, and of course the pumpkin patch.

The kiddos were hilarious! Parker patting Carson's head saying "I don't want this here anymore." haha Too funny!
