Take me out to the ball game

We recently went on a little date night with our friends. We started the night by eating at a yummy Mexican restauraunt. The place we ate at is the closest thing we can find to Cafe Rio. I'll take what I can get out here! Afterwards we headed over to Haymarket Park to watch the Saltdogs baseball game. It was the perfect day to be outside in the sunshine and watch the game. It wasn't humid or windy either...very rare for Nebraska! The game was even accompanied by an organ playing in between. Hilarious! My favorite part was the giant snow cone that Chad and I shared. Even though we made a mess trying to share it I still LOVED it!

20 weeks

We're half way there! Here is a picture of me and my bump at 20 weeks. Really my belly looks huge to me in this shot! I know, I know it's only going to get bigger..but to me it still looks big. It's been so much fun to start to feel the baby kick and move around. I still have two more weeks until I find out whether we're having a boy or a girl (which is killing me to wait this long) but I'm curious to see what you all think the baby will be. So post your guess and in a couple weeks we'll find out if you're right. :)

Baby bump

I had to post about this great new website for maternity clothes that my friend from high school started. It has really cute maternity clothes that are very affordable. I've browsed around a bunch of other sites online for maternity clothes and so many of them charge an arm and a leg for stuff. It's ridiculous! Speaking of maternity clothes...guess who's started to get a little baby bump. Last week all of the sudden one day it was there. It seems to have happened overnight I swear! For now I can still fit into all of my normal clothes, but who knows how long that'll last since I'm 19 weeks now. It's just a small bump, but my doctor says that everything is going good so far and that makes me happy. I am still trying to keep up with running by doing 2-3 miles a day. It's not even close to what I was running right before I got pregnant, but I figure it is better than nothing at this point and I hope to be able to continue doing it as long as I can during my pregnancy. I would love to be able to run outside in the sunshine, but there are a couple of factors that keep me indoors on the treadmill. One: It is getting so blasted humid and sticky here it's hard enough to breathe just walking around. Two: When I run I almost always only make it about a mile and a half before I have to take another bathroom break. It's pretty annoying when you are used to being able to run for a long time without having to worry about that, but it's just how it goes when your pregnant right. So for now my days of long summer runs outside are over.-That is at least for this summer that is. I'm planning on running a couple races next year and I can't wait. I'll have Chad get a picture of my baby bump to post on here soon.

4th of July: Part One

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. I was determined to have a fabulous 4th of July weekend jam packed with fun in the sun. But here is what happened instead:

Friday, July 3rd: I had the day off and was excited to have a day to relax and hopefully play at the pool. Around noon we decided to go hit up the pool. So all decked out in our swim attire we stroll over to the pool. It's a bit windy out, very cloudy, and not warm at all! What's the deal?! We made it to the pool and sat on our lawn chairs for a few minutes looking around deciding wheather or not to stay. We were the only ones there and it wasn't warm at all. It was pretty funny actually. After about 5 minutes of sitting by the pool we heard thunder and we were out of there. I was majorly bummed. No pool day for me. Friday night we planned to go see fireworks. Going to see fireworks is one of the reasons why I love the 4th. I love laying on a blanket under the big sky, hearing the loud booms as the fireworks burst in the sky. LOVE IT! However, this year I didn't get to see my fireworks. A huge storm came in instead. It poored and poored! Within 5 minutes of the start of the rain storm the streets were starting to flood and the grass was all flooded. Insane! Then the lightning and thunder started. We had some lightning that hit in our complex causing the power to go out and blew out the door entry key thingys so you couldn't get in our building. So the fire department showed up. Let's just say it made the night pretty interesting. So instead of fireworks we stayed home and played games with Matt and Traci. We had fun playing games, but I was still bummed out about not getting to see the fireworks.

Saturday, July 4th: The above picture is what it looked like all day...gloomy! I woke up and Chad went on a cereal run for me.(I'm addicted to Lucky Charms lately) He came back and about a minute later was gone after rushing in and telling me he was going to Seward with his friends. Seward is this tiny little town about 30 minutes West of Lincoln (literally in the middle of nowhere!) that has the biggest 4th of July celebrations in all of Nebraska. Parades, fireworks, carnivals, craft booths, bands, food, you name it they had it. I figured while he was gone I would go for a nice run outside and hopefully go to the pool. I headed out on my run and about a mile into it the rain starts. Seriously by this time I was fed up with the crappy weather on the holiday weekend. I had to run back to our complex gym to finish up my workout. Chad came home later and we went back to Seward so I could join in on the festivities there. This town has only 6,500 people that live there and they have thousands of people that drive out to their little town just for their celebration. They had a fabulous parade that was by far the funniest small town parade I've ever seen! The parade was complete with tractors, horses, and old Crysler Labaron convertables to parade around their beauty pagent winners. Plus they even threw out great candy like Starburst, Skittles, bubble gum, Sweet Tarts, and great suckers. Oh and my favorite part was that they had snow cones there! You can't find them anywhere here! I asked a couple people at work where to find snow cones and they didn't even know what they were. So deprived! Having the snow cone seemed to make up for the rest of my 4th of July let downs. Here are a few pictures from Chad's morning in Seward.

Ry's mad bowling skills!

This post is really late in coming, but I thought it was worth posting about. The first week of June we were able to go to Utah for a few days and visit with family. One of the things that we did when we were there was family bowling. We had a blast! The kids were so fun to watch! The kids had their own lane and the adults had the other two. I'm pretty sure about 2 or 3 of us could bowl in the same time that one of the kids could by the time their ball would finally make it down to hit the pins. Ryanne by far was the most entertaining to watch. First she would walk up...the ball weighing almost as much as she does. Then with her scranney little arms she lifts up the ball up to her shoulders and drops it down with a loud thud. (See above picture) The ball takes a few minutes just to reach the pins and by the time it gets there it barely manages to knock anything down because it is going so slow. It was pretty entertaining to watch to say the least! Thanks Mom and Dad for the fun bowling night with the fam!

Love that little lemon

Today I had another doctor's appointment. I am 14 weeks pregnant and our little one is now the size of a lemon. We were able to hear the baby's fast little heart beat and we even got to hear the baby kick! It was so neat! Chad thinks we are going to have a little soccer player on our hands. Although I don't look like I'm pregnant at all yet, I have definantely felt like it. My poor husband has put up with me being tired and sick every day. He's basically taken over the cooking since I am so sensitive to smells and certain foods that cooking has become a major challenge for me. He's also had to put up with me freezing him out every night having the window open and fan on and me throwing off the covers claiming that I'm dying of heat. Any of you that have lived with me or know me know that I am usually always cold, but since I got pregnant that's completely changed. It's pretty interesting all the changes that happen. I'm lucky to have such a wonderful husband that takes such good care of me and continues to put up with me.

Chad is set on having a boy first, but I am just hoping for a happy, healthy baby whether it be a boy or a girl. My due date is unfortunately the week of finals. Yes I know, last semester during finals we moved and this next semester I will be having the baby.-Apparently we like to make our lives even more crazy than they already are, but we are thrilled to be starting our family.

Busy May

I can't believe that in a few days it will be June already! Where has the month of May gone? It's flown by for me. We have managed to stay very busy this month and pack in a couple road trips too. First we went down to Nauvoo with the rest of the Burgin clan the first weekend in May. (Yes, I'm behind in blogging about this) We had a wonderful time there! It was me and Megan's first time there, but the rest of the crew has been there many times and has seen it all. One of the highlights of the trip was being able to go to the temple with my in-laws and Alex and Megan. Such a beautiful temple! One of my other favorite parts of Nauvoo were the couple missionaries. They perform in a show every night and it is so cute! I think that would be so fun to be a couple missionary there some day. I was impressed with how knowledgable and crafty they all were. I think I'd lose my patience on the weaving, but they were amazing at it. We of course also had to make a stop at the fudge shop and pick up some of their fabulous fudge. We were able to go to Carthage Jail and get a tour there as well. It was so neat to be able to actually see these historical sites that I've read and heard about all my life. Thanks to Teri and Steve for inviting us! We had a wonderful time! We did take lots of pics while we were there, but lately our internet at home has been very inconsistent, but I promise to post the pictures soon.



The next road trip was off to Missouri over Memorial Day weekend. We were so excited to head down to where it was warmer and hopefully get rid of our pasty skin laying by the pool. No luck though...it rained almost the whole time we were there. Major bummer! But we still had a great time being with family. Chad was so excited to be able to help his dad work on their lawn mower when we went down there. They spent almost an entire day working on it and finally were able to get it fixed. Way to go Chadley! I love walking or driving around their small town. Things just seem to move at a slower pace out there. Everyone has lots of land and it seems like having a dog is pretty much a requirement to live there. I'm grateful that we have family that lives semi-close that is willing to let us come stay with them. You guys are wonderful! We love you!



TOMORROW we will be going on another vacation. However, fortunately we will be flying instead of taking another road trip this time. We are headed out to Utah for a few days. It'll be a quick trip, but very much worth it. I can't wait to see my family, cute neices and nephews, and friends! Oh and the best part is that on the way back we get a direct flight from SLC to Lincoln! Wahoo! Thank you Delta!
